Sosi Setian was birth place at Bulgaria to Armenian parents, Setian fled to Lebanon and then to the U.S. when she was 17, grew up under the Communist regime. She father had a textile tradings business. Any successful business owner was tagged as a member of the “old bourgeoisie,” and the family faced discrimination. Her father often referred to the Communists seizing large amounts of money from him. She was not able to go to summer camp with my classmates, and her sister, who graduated from high school with honors.She education applied linguistics, and later became an assistant professor of Armenian at Columbia University where she also ran the Fulbright program. Sosi Setian was a professor of Armenian studies when she plans to pursue a Ph.D.
